Alaq Al-Muwali is a medical doctor from Baghdad, Iraq and the Alumni Support Division Director at the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations-Iraq (IFMSA-Iraq). She previously served as the National Officer for The Standing Committee on Sexual and Reproductive Health including HIV/AIDS and as the Vice President for External Affairs in IFMSA-Iraq. Her work focuses on sexual and reproductive health and rights, mental health and the health needs of Internally Displaced Peoples in Iraq. She also worked with the United Nations Development Program as a trainer on a project focused on youth development and entrepreneurship. She is passionate about integrating design thinking and the human-centered approach to develop sustainable solutions in healthcare delivery. Dr. Al-Muwali graduated from Baghdad University College of Medicine and is currently based in Baghdad.

Fellowship Focus:  Develop a mental health screening initiative in all-girls high schools in Baghdad to identify high-risk and low-risk cases and increase awareness on adolescent mental health.
